Packaging in future food supply chains will be discussed at a national event dedicated to food, health and nutrition.

Mike Dudbridge, a principal lecturer at the National Centre for Food Manufacturing, University of Lincoln, UK, will be chairing an afternoon of talks at the Food Matters Live event taking place on the 18th– 20th November in London.

 

The seminar, Assessing the benefits of active, intelligent and controlled packaging, takes place on 18th November.

The afternoon will begin with Mike exploring the market drivers for active, intelligent and controlled packaging in future food supply chains, focusing on the need for industry to be innovative with their packaging systems.

Mike will introduce fellow speakers for the afternoon including Vice President of Marketing and Innovation at LINPAC Packaging Joanna Stephenson; Ulrike Herbert from Cold Chain Management Group, University of Bonn; and Eleni Platakou from the Laboratory of Food Chemistry and Technology, National Technical University of Athens.

Experts will showcase the latest technological developments from modified atmosphere (MAP) and antimicrobial packaging to sensor and time-temperature control indicators and discuss their ability to ensure safety, extend shelf life and enhance brand value.

Mike’s research interests are in lean manufacturing techniques, automation and the development of new packaging systems suited to the very high demands of the food industry.

Food Matters Live is a new event dedicated to food, health and nutrition. It will bring together the food and drink industry, retailers, food service providers, government, and those working in nutrition and health to tackle one of the most important challenges of our time – the relationship between food, health and nutrition.

This event combines an exhibition with a unique education programme including free-to-attend conferences, seminars, and practical demonstrations. It will bring together over 450 speakers, 200 exhibitors and thousands of visitors from across the food and health sectors, for three days of networking, debate and cross-sector collaboration.
