The University of Lincoln offers a unique higher level qualification to help those seeking technical and production management roles in the food sector to progress their careers.

The MSc Food Manufacturing is an innovative programme which integrates science, technology, business and management to ensure knowledge and learning is directly applicable to the workplace. It will equip students with the expertise and ability to undertake management roles in the food processing and manufacturing industries.

Dr Yunus Khatri, programme leader, said: “This MSc will provide aspiring managers in the sector with the relevant technical skills and the competencies needed to manage effectively in the food industry. This will develop the next generation of leaders in a sector crucial to the UK economy.”

The course will utilise the excellent processing facilities of the National Centre of Food Manufacturing, and students will also be exposed to the regional food manufacturing industries due to the close relationships which the University has established with local food industries.

Modules include: Advanced Food Manufacturing, Applications of Food Science, Business Improvement and Lean Manufacturing, Food Safety and Microbiology, Quality Assurance and Technical Management, Food Innovation and Product Development, Research Methodology and Project Management, and Business and Financial Management.

Students will also undertake a research project either in industry or academia, which will enable them to apply their new knowledge in a real work environment, as well as allowing them to make invaluable contacts with potential employers before even completing the course.
